Muvico FAIL

March 5th, 2009

For the last 6 months or so, whenever I wanted to see a big movie release, I got some sort of flak from Mcpheezy about me wanting to see the movie at the Arclight Theaters. For those of you who don’t live in Los Angeles, the Arclight was designed as “…a complete movie going experience.” With perks such large, comfortable seats, reserved seating, decent food, and digital projectors. Throw in a membership option and special, members-only events (sometimes including guest speakers), and it sounds like exactly the kind of place a Republican elitist would love, but it seemed McPheezy wasn’t feeling it.

In reality, the Arclight ended up being more like the Cheesecake Factory of movie theaters - neither is as exclusive as they make themselves out to be. Sure, the Arclight is more expensive, but (much like the Cheesecake Factory) the cost isn’t prohibitive and (again, like the Cheesecake Factory) it’s generally worth the price increase to an average joe. For 7 years it’s been the top of the theatre food-chain and I’ve been more than satisfied. Enter Muvico.

The Audacity of Joke

November 6th, 2008

So much for the staff at the villiage voice. The absolute best parody of the Obama Hope Posters has got to be this one by artist James Lillis.

Max Payne Trailer

August 3rd, 2008

This trailer looks pretty good. I’m a big fan of the games so I hopefully thought they would do it justice. But like every other video game movie, except the 1st Resident Evil, they change the storyline to something less entertaining than the original. Like Doom. How can you fuck up Doom of all things. Really all they needed to do was copy Aliens. Replace aliens with Zombie guards and Demons. Drop the Rock in hell. Boom! Doom3.
Even though I’m bitching w/o seeing the movie I still have hope it. The screenplay isn’t awful. It has the same basic plot as the games but it goes off on a different tangent. We’ll see in Oct.

C’mon are we just completely out of fucking ideas people!

July 31st, 2008

If I recall correctly the original sucked so I’m really not sure why the world needs another one.  But for some reason I still see this making money. Not sure why…

… wait yes I do.

Here’s a link to a bigger size for those of you that want it.

The last superhero movie you’ll ever need…

July 18th, 2008

I remember reading Watchmen in middle school; transcendence isn’t often attributed to comic books, but this one forever changed my world-view, in ways no other work of fiction has. It’s been an interminable wait for the movie version…over the past twenty years, some of the most gifted filmmakers alive have taken a stab at adapting it, including Terry Gilliam, Darren Aaronofsky, Guillermo del Toro, and Paul Greengrass. Finally, it’s really happening under 300 director, Zack Snyder.

Watchmen trailer

This is the best trailer I’ve ever seen. The movie’s out on March 6, 2009.

My favorite stuff on Youtube, tonight…

July 16th, 2008

This is an amazing, fan-made, teaser trailer for the Watchmen movie, due out in March, 2009. A legit teaser is expected to premiere in theaters this weekend, in front of The Dark Knight.

Trailer for Frank Miller’s The Spirit…general reaction seems to be negative, but I’m fugging in love with it.

Moon Man is one of the stranger, rascistier memes spawned by YTMND, but he actually waxes a bit insightful and makes some sense, for a change, in this clip…

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

July 11th, 2008

I waited quite a while to write this review, and for good reason. There was alot of knee-jerk reactionary hate directed towards Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (KotCS) when it was first released; reviews claiming their childhoods had been ‘molested’ or internet posters renaming the film with titles such as ‘Indiana Jones Episode 4: The Phantom Skull’ were everywhere, and the fanboy effect was quickly in full swing. Thus, despite having quite a few things I wanted to say about KotCS, I waited for some time to pass in order to present a non-reactionary, objective opinion.

This movie is terrible. I mean, wholly and truly awful.

Hulk vs Wolverine & Hulk vs Thor Animated Movies

July 11th, 2008

Not a big fan of the Hulk or Thor but Wolverine kicks ass. The movie official drops on dvd/blue ray in Jan 2009 but but there’s a screening at the San Diego Comicon this month. So if you can grab a seat you’ll get to watch the whole shabang.

New Darknight Trailer

July 7th, 2008

Another Dark Knight Trailer. Unfortunately I can’t embed it in the page so here’s a link. Seriously I’m starting to feel like I’ve seen all of the cool parts of this movie.

Watched “Wanted” over the weekend. It was no Ultraviolet, aka Ultra-garbage, but it was far from good. Right out of the gate they have this stupid car chase with a Viper that can’t outrun a fucking delivery truck. Maybe I looked away from the screen and missed the stack of nitrous in the cargo hold. Another issue I had was that the whole curving bullets thing just wasn’t that cool. Instead of curving bullets their super power should have been “bullet time”, that would have kicked mad ass! Speaking of bullet time there’s actually a Max Payne movie coming out. Glad to see they kept that hack Boll away from it. I won’t say that I hated Wanted but there were just too many cheese ball moments that kept me from enjoying it. They should have went with the actual story from the comic which is far superior to the storyline they used.
Oh well, Jolie looked hot as always. Best line in the film -

Morgan Freeman - “Shoot that muthafucka!”

The Spirit

June 30th, 2008

I love film noir and visually The Spirit looks awesome. Hopefully the writing will do it justice. Check some of the cast members, at the very least I can think of a few reasons to go see it.

Eva Mendes The Spirit

The Spirit Scarlett Johansson

The Spirit Jaime King

The Spirit Sarah Paulson
